Do you know of a primary school that would like to take part in our Transport Month road safety initiative?
702 and Rehana Moosajee Consulting are running a road safety initiative on Monday 27 October aimed at primary school learners.
We looking for 20 Grade 7 learners. We can accommodate 5 learners per school accompanied by 1 educator or other responsible adult.
Primary school learners from diverse backgrounds will take part in a session at 702 where they will learn about road safety and receive training. They will then, in conjunction with the JMPD, monitor traffic intersections in the Sandton CBD.

The learners would need to be available to take part on the programme at 702 in Sandown from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

In excess of 14 000 lives are lost annually on South African roads. Despite this, road safety tends to have an Easter, Christmas focus when large numbers of people are travelling. Moreover, often media report about road crashes citing statistics without focusing on the human pain and suffering, economic impact and overall cost to society of road crashes. If a concerted and focused societal effort can be galvanized, countries have shown that lives lost in crashes can be reduced.
