High-Level Explainer: Presidential Employment Stimulus – Taking It to the Next Level
This one-day workshop, hosted at the Radisson Blu Sandton, aims to reflect on and advance the Presidential Employment Stimulus initiatives. Participants, drawn from a wide range of programmatic divisions, will collectively examine their experiences with employment stimulus programs, explore the broader impact of work participation, and develop strategies for sustainable employment transitions.
Key activities include interactive exercises like the "Youth Capital Card Game" and the "Wash Line of Frustration/Wall of Pride," which help participants reflect on achievements and challenges. Thought-provoking sessions led by experts, such as Dr. Kate Philip and Zak Essa, focus on the evolving role of public employment programs, the value of work participation, and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.
The day emphasizes collaborative discussions, programmatic group work, and actionable outputs, such as identifying critical areas for improvement and recording innovative ideas for transitions. The workshop concludes with a forward-looking session to outline practical steps for enhancing employment stimulus programs and supporting sustainable career pathways.
